Salt Spring Island is the largest of all the BC Gulf Islands and boasts one of Canada's warmest year round climate.  It is also known for the country's organic farming capital.

Salt Spring Gulf Island Map

Salt Spring Island is serviced by ferries from Tsawwassen on BC mainland to Long Harbour on Salt Spring.  The ferry ride can be anywhere between an hour and a half for a direct sailing and up to three hours if the ferry stops at Galiano, Mayne and Pender Islands.

There are also two ferry routes from Vancouver Island.  Sailing from Vesuvius on Salt Spring to Crofton is a 20 minute ferry ride, and typically runs every hour.  From Victoria Swartz Bay, the 35 minute sail takes you to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring.

Salt Spring Island is a beautiful island with plenty of outdoor activities.  Many people bike the island; however, be prepared as much of Salt Spring is rolling hills.  There are plenty of hiking opportunities as well such as Mt. Maxwell which rewards you with a fantastic view at the top.
